Playa de las Américas is the centre of Tenerife’s nightlife. It has the island’s latest clubs on the Veronicas strip, the Starco centre of bars and sports pubs, the Hard Rock Cafe and its rooftop terrace, seafront beach clubs such as Papagayo, and dozens of show bars with tribute acts, singers and bands every night. With more listings than any other area on DoTenerife, it’s the place to go if you want choice.

The main nightlife zones

Veronicas

The seafront strip of bars and clubs that gets going after midnight and runs until 5–6am at weekends. Commercial dance, R&B and hip hop, drinks deals and big groups. Full guide: Veronicas strip.

Starco

Just across the main road from Veronicas, the Starco commercial centre is full of British and Irish bars, sports pubs and show bars that get busy earlier in the evening. A classic night is a show at Starco, then Veronicas. Full guide: Starco.

The seafront and beach clubs

The promenade between Playa de Troya and Playa del Camisón has the Hard Rock Cafe (with The Top Terrace rooftop), restaurants and beach clubs like Papagayo, which turn into lively bars after sunset. See beach clubs in Tenerife.

Show bars around the Golden Mile and Parque Santiago

The streets behind the seafront are packed with show bars: tribute nights, cabaret, karaoke and live bands, mostly free to watch. Venues such as Princess Di’s and the Music Hall Tavern are regulars in our listings — the venues with the most shows coming up are listed below.

A typical night out

  1. 8–9pm: dinner and a sunset drink on the seafront.
  2. 9pm–midnight: a tribute act or live band in a show bar.
  3. Midnight–2am: Starco and the late bars.
  4. 2am onwards: the clubs on Veronicas.

Costs

Bar shows are usually free to watch; you pay for drinks. Clubs on Veronicas may charge entry at busy times, often including a drink. Promoters offer drinks deals — check exactly what’s included.

Getting home

Taxis wait at ranks near Veronicas and along Avenida Rafael Puig. Fares to Los Cristianos and Costa Adeje are short. See Tenerife taxis and what time bars close.

Who it suits

Groups, stag and hen parties, couples who want a show and families early in the evening. For a quieter night, try Costa Adeje or Los Cristianos.
