The best places to eat in Tenerife depend on what you want: a guachinche such as Los Gómez in La Orotava or Casa Pedro in Los Realejos for home-style Canarian food, Tasquita del Puerto in Los Abrigos or Masía del Mar in La Caleta for seafood by the water, and El Rincón de Juan Carlos or M.B for Michelin-starred tasting menus. For value, El Cine in Los Cristianos is the classic fish-and-papas stop, and families do well at The Treehouse in Chayofa.
This page names specific restaurants. For an overview of Canarian dishes, typical prices and eating-out etiquette, read our guide to eating out in Tenerife.
Canarian food and guachinches
1. Guachinche Los Gómez, La Orotava
One of the best-known guachinches in the La Orotava valley, serving grilled meats, ropa vieja, chickpeas, croquettes and house wine in an informal setting. Reviews into October 2026 are mixed on service at busy times, but it remains a reference point for the guachinche experience.
Good to know: Camino Los Gómez 21, La Orotava. Opens part of the week; a 2026 reviewer reports it was cash only. Budget.
2. Mi Guachinche Casa Pedro, Los Realejos
The top-ranked restaurant in Los Realejos on TripAdvisor, with a 2026 Travellers’ Choice award. Reviewers mention warm avocado, almogrote, octopus, sweet potato salad and marinated pork. Opening is mainly at lunchtime, with limited evening service.
Good to know: Calle Longuera 10, Los Realejos. Closed some weekdays; go at lunchtime. Budget.
3. La Hierbita, Santa Cruz
A long-established restaurant in the old streets of central Santa Cruz, serving Canarian and Spanish dishes such as gofio broth, fried aubergine, octopus and fresh fish. Recent reviews are mixed and some mention unrequested bread and sauces on the bill, so check before accepting.
Good to know: Calle Clavel 19, Santa Cruz. Evenings only. Mid-range.
Seafood by the harbour
4. Tasquita del Puerto, Los Abrigos
The best-reviewed of the fish restaurants along the harbour in Los Abrigos, near Golf del Sur and the airport. Reviewers recommend the seafood platter, paella, grilled prawns and fish of the day. It closes two days midweek.
Good to know: Calle La Marina 32, Los Abrigos. Book for sunset at weekends. Mid-range.
5. Masía del Mar, La Caleta
A large seafood restaurant on the water in La Caleta, known for fresh fish, seafood platters and paella. Ratings are moderate rather than outstanding, but the setting by the old fishing harbour and its long track record keep it popular. Compare it with the smaller places along the same street.
Good to know: Calle El Muelle 3, La Caleta. Book a terrace table. Mid-range to upper mid-range.
6. Restaurante El Cine, Los Cristianos
An unfussy fish restaurant near the harbour in Los Cristianos, famous for grilled fish, sardines, octopus and papas arrugadas at low prices. It has a 2026 Travellers’ Choice award. Expect a queue and quick service.
Good to know: Paseo Juan Bariajo 8, Los Cristianos. No booking; closed early in the week. Budget.
Fine dining
7. El Rincón de Juan Carlos, Adeje
One of Tenerife’s two restaurants with two Michelin stars in the 2026 guide, run by brothers Juan Carlos and Jonathan Padrón inside the Royal Hideaway Corales resort near La Caleta. Tasting menus build on Canarian produce.
Good to know: Royal Hideaway Corales, La Caleta, Adeje. Book well in advance. Expensive.
8. M.B, Guía de Isora
The island’s other two-star restaurant, linked to chef Martín Berasategui and located in The Ritz-Carlton Tenerife, Abama on the west coast. Worth the drive for a special occasion.
Good to know: The Ritz-Carlton, Abama, Guía de Isora. Book well ahead. Expensive.
9. El Taller Seve Díaz, Puerto de la Cruz
A newer one-star restaurant in central Puerto de la Cruz, awarded its star in the most recent guide. It is one of the few Michelin options in the north of the island.
Good to know: Central Puerto de la Cruz. Book ahead. Expensive.
Family-friendly, budget and sea views
10. The Treehouse, Chayofa
A country-pub-style bar and grill in the hills above Los Cristianos, with a children’s play area, highchairs, live music and Sunday roasts. The Treehouse has mixed reviews on service, but families like the space to roam. You will need a taxi or car.
Good to know: Calle Taroso 2, Chayofa. Book for Sunday lunch. Mid-range.
11. Tijuana, Playa de las Américas
A small, late-opening bar serving thin-crust wood-fired pizza, cheap beer and cocktails off the main drag in Playa de las Américas. Tijuana is a useful stop before or after a night out.
Good to know: CC Américas Shopping, Calle México. Evenings until late. Budget.
12. Cala, Torviscas
A beachfront restaurant and cocktail bar by Torviscas beach with sea views and sunsets. Cala has an international menu and sometimes live entertainment. Reviews praise the setting more than the food, and service can be slow at peak times.
Good to know: Calle Valencia, Comercial Costa, Costa Adeje. Book a sunset table. Mid-range to upper mid-range.
How we chose
We have not eaten at every restaurant here. We chose places by reputation, how long they have been running, how often they are recommended in local listings and guides, Michelin’s 2026 selection, and recent reviews on Google and TripAdvisor. Every restaurant had reviews or official listings in 2025 or 2026. Where reviews are mixed, we say so. Prices are described as levels, not exact figures, because menus change.
