The best sunsets in Tenerife are on the west and south-west coasts, where the sun drops into the Atlantic — often behind the island of La Gomera. Here are the best spots, plus sunset times through the year.
Sunset spots
- Los Gigantes: the giant cliffs glow orange at sunset; watch from the marina or the viewpoints above town. See Los Gigantes nightlife.
- Playa de la Arena: a black-sand beach in Puerto de Santiago with a seafront promenade made for sunset strolls.
- Costa Adeje: the promenade from Playa del Duque to Puerto Colón, plus sky bars and beach clubs with views of La Gomera.
- La Caleta: a former fishing village with seafront restaurants on the rocks — dinner with a sunset.
- Playa San Juan and Alcalá: quiet west-coast fishing towns with sea views.
- Garachico: the north coast’s historic town, with sunsets over its rock pools.
- Mount Teide: sunset above the sea of clouds, with Teide’s shadow stretching across the sky. Often combined with stargazing. Bring warm clothes.
