Tina Turner first found fame in the 1960s with the Ike & Tina Turner Revue. After leaving that partnership she rebuilt her career as a solo artist, and the 1984 album Private Dancer made her a global superstar.

Her concerts were famous for their energy, and her 1988 show at the Maracanã Stadium in Rio drew one of the largest paying concert audiences for a solo artist. Her story is told in the stage musical TINA.
